A Significant Day for Filipino Nurses Around the Globe
Starting this year, the Filipino Nursing Diaspora Day will be celebrated on 7 May which coincides with the International Nursing Week (6-12 May) celebration.
The theme for this year's nursing diaspora day, "Creating connections and shaping the evolving role of the Filipino nurses", provides an opportunity to enhance the collaborative professionalism of the Filipino nurses in various parts of the world and recognizes their significant contributions in advancing the health and well-being of our society.
This year’s celebration is extra special because the World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as The Year of the Nurse and Midwife, and because it is the 200th anniversary of Nightingale’s birth.
The President of the Filipino Nursing Diaspora Network, Prof. Violeta Lopez, RN, PhD, FACN said she expects this momentous day that underpins a vital message that Filipino nurses play a central role in the provision of healthcare.
